Priority 2: Inclusive, and opportunity of access

“To create an inclusive community where everyone has opportunity of access to fulfil their potential regardless of academic ability, race, gender, age or disability.”

Why?

Current access and provision to Life Long Learning opportunities is uncoordinated and not necessarily geared towards the needs of individuals or socially excluded groups. There has been no co-ordinated response from either FE/HE bodies, Workers Education Association or Adult Education based on the training needs analysis of the community, to provide Life Long Learning Opportunities to meet the needs of individuals, societies/clubs, businesses or the socially excluded. The Partnership is actively seeking to bridge the “skills gap” by providing an inclusive programme of education that is an exciting provision of learning for the many.

We will:

  • Create a Community Learning Programme to meet the needs of the people of Cwmaman.
  • Improve access to learning resources through expanded and modernised facilities.
  • Remove barriers to learning through access to Information Technology.
  • Enrich the community by expanding access and opportunity to creative experience and ways of thinking through an Arts Development Programme.

Targets:

  • Implement a programme of acquiring skills, learning and training for individuals and organisations.
  • Refurbish and modernise the Cwmaman Library facilities and improve access.
  • Establish a Community Resources Centre to allow greater access to information and counselling.
  • Provide additional opportunities for improving and learning IT skills in locations throughout the community including the Community Resource Centre & Library, Cwmaman and Glynhafod Schools, St Joseph’s Church and Cwmaman Institute.
  • Ensure that Community Arts activity is maintained in Cwmaman Institute and expanded to additional locations including St Joseph’s Church.
