“Encourage a sense of pride in Cwmaman and responsibility for its appearance amongst those who live, work or visit by recognising and improving the quality of its natural beauty, bio-diversity, heritage, streetscape, infrastructure, accessibility, buildings and open spaces.”


Why?

Improvements to the environment in its widest sense will have the most immediate and lasting impact upon the community, and improve the quality of life for all by removing the corrosive effect of dereliction. It will add to the overall sustainability of the village, community organisations and local enterprises.


We will:

  • Improve road signage to and in the village.
  • Undertake environmental improvement schemes to improve appearance and access to Cwmaman.
  • Increase recycling, renewable energy sources and reduce waste.
  • Improve access and understanding of the bio-diversity of the countryside and open spaces to encourage tourism and enterprise.
  • Ensure public transport meets the needs of the community.
  • Improve standards in housing and appreciation of the community of Cwmaman.
  • Remove and improve derelict buildings.
  • Improve the appearance, access, usage of Church and Community owned buildings.
  • Improve the infrastructure, car parking, traffic flow, road safety and pedestrian access in and around Cwmaman.


Targets:

  • Establish ‘Welcome to Cwmaman Sign’, highway directional signage and information and interpretation signage.
  • Landscape improvements to the entrance and throughout the village.
  • Street enhancement (High St) including improving derelict & empty shops, improvements to pavements, road surface, disabled access, street cleaning, litter bins and refuse collection.
  • Develop and implement a ‘Keep Cwmaman Tidy’ action plan.
  • Undertake a biodiversity study of the surrounding area of Cwmaman.
  • Expand & improve Community Transport.
  • Improve and refurbish Moriah Aman Church Youth Hall.
  • Improve & repair St Joseph’s Church for community usage.
  • Establish annual environmental & heritage festivals in the village centred on St Joseph’s Church.
  • Improve the ‘loops & links’ of pathways & cycle links to and through the Forestry Commission Land.
  • Establish a sculpture trail through the village as part of the environmental festival.
  • Improve parking for community usage and problems parking areas.
  • Improve traffic flow, safety and road realignment in the Shepherds Arms area.
  • Improve and repair Seion Chapel.
