“Create a positive and pleasant environment for the people of Cwmaman through community participation and ownership”

Why?
The majority of community organisations continue to rely heavily on local voluntary work. A great deal of dependence is placed upon these organisations for the continued sustainability of local groups. Organisational and managerial abilities vary from group to group, and many of the organisations within the community have to face issues such as fund-raising and sustainability, redevelopment, widening access for the very first time. In order to facilitate this process careful overall planning is needed.

Training needs analysis of organisations and key individuals needs to be undertaken in the near future. It is vital that as many members of the community as possible are involved in the volunteering process. This may also remove barriers to participation such as extending pre-school/after school child support.

We will:

  • Increase levels of community participation by building upon the skills and dedication of volunteers.
  • Remove barriers to participation through a structured programme of capacity building.
  • Develop achievable sustainable projects that will improve the quality of life for the people of Cwmaman.

Targets:

  • Provide information through a regular Community Newsletter & Cwmaman Website.
  • Establish a Community Resource Centre to provide a focal point for the distribution of information.
  • Provide a ‘Welcome to Cwmaman’ information pack for new residents.
  • Maintain and develop the number of volunteers amongst community based groups in all organisations, clubs and societies in the community.
  • Provide a structured development programme for existing and new volunteers.
  • Establish and maintain a sustainable future for the main community organisations in Cwmaman and the local clubs and societies.
