Action Plan front cover

“Make Cwmaman a safer place to live, work and visit, by reducing the fear and social effects of crime and disorder”

Why?

Community safety has been ranked as the highest concern by residents, and especially amongst senior citizens. The primary areas of anxiety have been house break-ins, antisocial behaviour of young people and associated drug & alcohol abuse. Particular concerns have also been raised regarding perceived “problem families” and drug addicts that have been moved into the area.

We will:

  • Secure resources to improve and develop Youth Provision.
  • Work with local providers to address Drug & Alcohol problems.
  • Lobby for additional resources to appoint a Community First Police Officer.
  • Work closely with local Housing Associations & council Housing Department.

Targets:

  • Tackle problems of drug & alcohol abuse by providing educational and practical support.
  • Improve police response and policing levels through closer working relationships.
  • Provide a co-ordinated response amongst key providers such as the police, youth services, council and housing associations to target problem areas and provision.
  • Work towards removing the fear of crime through practical advice and support.
