Cwmaman Communities First
Gym Class
Making the Gym Less Scary!
Cwmaman Gym class meets at the Cwmaman Institute Health suite every Tuesday morning at 11am.
The class is open to all abilities and levels of fitness.
The class will help you develop an Individual program & give you the encouragement you need to get fit.
New Members
A member of Cwmaman Institute Health Suite staff will take you around each piece of the equipment to show you how it works - and explain what each piece can do for you. Having a fitness assessment at the beginning and a programme especially designed for your level is essential.
Don't worry if you haven't done any exercise since school or are feeling completely out of shape. Cwmaman Institute Health Suite caters for every level of fitness from marathon runner to pensioner.
An hour is about as much time as you'll need when you first start out. As you get used to the equipment you will find there are some you naturally enjoy using more than others and other pieces that you will slowly have to build up to.
Armed with your individually designed program, the class takes place in the gym when it's off peak to ease you in gradually. At first you will want to wear some loose fitting comfortable clothing & suitable footwear.
The Health Suite staff are always around to answer your questions on how to use the equipment properly, they offer support in helping you train and Stephen the Cwmaman Communities First Development worker will be there keeping you motivated.
Remember too that the first few classes you will attend will be the hardest but pretty soon you will get more confident, with effort you'll soon see results, you will start to feel in shape, and really enjoy your Cwmaman Communities First Gym visits.
TV’s Dr Chris Steele
“People are living longer now, but the quality of those extra years will depend on how you treat your body. Too many older people say it’s too late for them to develop a healthier routine. It's never too late for older people to make a difference - giving up smoking, taking regular exercise, reducing your salt intake, and eating more fresh fruit and veg can add years to your life. This will boost your energy, health and positive attitude."
